CAE Analysis (Computer-aided engineering analysis) uses software to analyze designs which have been created in the computer or created elsewhere and entered into the computer.  Many different kinds of engineering analysis can be performed using CAE, such as structural analysis and electronic circuit analysis.

Engineers in fields from Aerospace, Automotive to Bio-Medical use CAE in tasks such as analysis, simulation, design, manufacture, planning, diagnosis and repair.   It encompasses simulation, validation and optimization of products and manufacturing tools.

Among the software used in CAE Analysis is LSTC's LS-DYNA: a general purpose transient dynamic finite element program capable of simulating complex real world problems.
